Mole Day 2018

Mole Day 2018 Posteh

BAY CITY, SL (24th January 2018) – It’s nearly that time of year again when we look for furry little shadows. You do have your shadows enabled, no? It’s not about groundhogs — it’s about the Moles of the Linden Department of Public Works!

Initially honored in 2010 by Residents of Bay City, Mole Day is set aside to show appreciation for The Moles and their many contributions to Bay City and the rest of the Second Life® Grid.

Normally held on the same day as Groundhog Day, this year’s annual Mole Day will again take place at the Bay City Fairgrounds (SLurl) February 3rd commencing at 11:00 a.m. SLT. The event will feature DJ GoSpeed Racer of KONA stream followed by Stratus Mactavish performing live at 12:00 p.m. SLT.

“Moles” are members of The Linden Department of Public Works (LDPW). The LDPW is a program focused on improvements related to the experience of living on or visiting the Linden Mainland. The LDPW organizes teams of Resident builders, artists, and scripters (the Moles!) to create new content on Linden Lab’s behalf and to the benefit of all. These Residents have the last name “Mole.”

Moles essentially build all of the grid’s infrastructure: the public roads and railways, items in our coastal waterways and protected lands, and even larger scale projects like the Linden Homes regions, premium content, and experiences, and much more.

Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest group for Residents of Bay City.

Charity Auction in Bay City

I’m checking out some of the goodies for the Bay City 2017 Tree Lighting charity auction. You might have read about it in my last post, but I wanted to remind everyone about the charity part.

Bay City 2017 Christmas Auction_003

Drop in early (SLurl) to check out the artwork by Melusina ParkinTrinity Yazimoto, and others (including some from me!). Men’s clothing, a moonshine still, landscaping items, and even a Yavapod set are available, all to the highest bidders, of course.

All proceeds from the silent auction and from donation bins at the venue will go to Child’s Play Charity. Child’s Play is a 501c3 non-profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment. There’s that party, too, but think of the kids and visit the Fairgrounds with some bids!

What’s In My Closet: Elleria Witch

Without spending a single $L, I think I made a fabulous avatar for Halloween 2017. Most of the costume is from the Elleria avatar found in the Linden Library at the bottom of your Inventory window, but here’s the details:

Note the pet bat. It is from a different Linden avatar. The Lumae skin is as important to the ensemble as the Linden avatar pieces as this close-up GIF shows:

Someone saw me hovering last night and commented “You scared me up there!” so, kudos to the Linden AO. Halloween hasn’t impressed me much the last few years. I just can’t get into it any more. But this avatar impresses me. Many thanks to Pico Mole, River Mole, and Exotic Mole for a great starter avatar. And thanks to Lumae for the upgrade.
