I’m checking out some of the goodies for the Bay City 2017 Tree Lighting charity auction. You might have read about it in my last post, but I wanted to remind everyone about the charity part.
Drop in early (SLurl) to check out the artwork by Melusina Parkin, Trinity Yazimoto, and others (including some from me!). Men’s clothing, a moonshine still, landscaping items, and even a Yavapod set are available, all to the highest bidders, of course.
All proceeds from the silent auction and from donation bins at the venue will go to Child’s Play Charity. Child’s Play is a 501c3 non-profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment. Bay City is a silver level sponsor of Child’s Play, as recognized on the Child’s Play website, at www.childsplaycharity.org.
There’s that party, too, but think of the kids and visit the Fairgrounds with some bids!

BAY CITY, SL (14 August 2017) – Bay City’s mid-century theme — and it’s large network of roads — is celebrated annually during its “Hot Bay City Nights” event. This Second Life® bassed event features vehicle makers who create virtual automobiles from the Bay City “theme era,” from 1940 to 1965.
The event is held in the the Bay City Fairgrounds (SLurl), in the North Channel region, from the 19-27th of August to present the best in vintage and retro vehicles. Each designer is hand-picked, and presents great road vehicles for use in Second Life.
Additional events will provide plenty for all to do, including the crowning of 2017s Miss Bay City on the 27th, and a series of virtual car washes in support of Child’s Play Charity, an organization that provides toys and games for children in hospitals around the world. Bay City is a silver-level sponsor of Child’s Play.

I would like to thank Bay City’s Chief of Police, T.J. Hooker (really) his service to our fair city and for not arresting me for this picture.
The police station is in a G-rated sim, Edgartown, and per The Lab, I shouldn’t be topless there while any male avatar isn’t so restricted. This is discrimination but really, I shouldn’t have been there.
What? Uccie agreeing with the No Boobies Rule? Yes. T.J. set up this great build as a role play (RP) environment. As with the rest of Bay City, the 40s-60s era isn’t really suited to topless women. While I’m ready to muck about most of Bay City topless, I do try to respect the wishes of others so don’t expect me to be semi-nude at the station again, unless I’m being arrested.
Hey, T.J.! There’s an idea for an RP for yah ….
BAY CITY, SL (9 May, 2017) – As the Second Life® mainland community of Bay City turns nine, its Residents are once again hosting their annual parade through the city, followed by a live music event in their fairgrounds.

Yes, young Zyx Flux is getting older. She’s 14 years old now (about 2x her SL age) and like all young women she is starting to mature. Every child avatar I’ve met in Second Life has kept their age fixed over the years. My friend Marianne McCann is 8 1/2 years old. Her brother Pygar is 12 years old, and her sister Robin is 10 years old. They’ve not aged since I met them.
Zyx hasn’t always been a child avatar. Back when she was a gardener at the Isle of Lesbos her age was in NeverNever years … like 100 of ours, but young for there. I never got it all worked out. Pretty much she was a gardener … my landscaping storage alt. When Lesbos faded off into the sunset, I got to working on her back story, like why she has a sister/cousin/Aunt with what we perceive to be the same name. It wasn’t long before I decided she would age. When she was nearly 13, she shed her light blue coloring that all pixies are born with and turned a medium brown, showing she was probably going to be a Seelie Court Fae (the other Zyx is an Unseelie Court Fae) as her hormones changed. Her biology is a big twist on the traditional view of the Faerie Courts, but that’s not unusual for me. She was born with antennae, for example. This is Second Life. I can do what I want.
She had these cute little freebie antenna from Epic but “big” Zyx had more substantial, less cute antennae. As you can see from the picture above, “little” Zyx is growing a similar pair as she gets older. And her nails have turned into sharp claws. Not sure yet about making her taller. Maybe tweak her a few inches her and there, but that will probably happen. Now that she’s 14 though, I’m more comfortable with letting her wear clothes like you see above.
It is all part of a plan, or more likely, a plan in progress. But my little girl is growing up, to be sure.
Her story so far ….
Zyx Flux was sent out of the NeverNever to explore life with humans, her sister/cousin/Aunt coming along to keep an eye on her. She got a job with the Bay City Institute for Anomalous Research as a gardener and despite her youth, worked up to Chief Gardener at the Institute’s Arboretum of Rather Atypical Vegetation (SLurl). She keeps busy with learning new magicks, working, exploring our realm, and fighting a crush on Pygar (not good to fall in love with humans, she’s always being told).
